Spring Garden School

The Spring Garden School features small classes (25:1) and a highly experienced faculty. Our building features a computer lab, wireless internet, and Promethian/ SMART Boards in every classroom. Spring Garden's schools architectural style is elegant and housed in a historic school building located in the “Poplar” neighborhood. The building was designed by Irwin T. Catharine and built in 1931. It is a three-story, 16-bay orange brick building in the Art Deco style. It features corbelled brick pilasters with capitals adorned by floral motifs and a caged rooftop play area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Students graduating from Spring Garden School are highly sought after for high school special admissions. Over 70% of Spring Garden graduates attend magnet and select admissions high schools. Recent Spring Garden alum have been admitted and are attending Philadelphia High School for Girls, Carver High School for Science and Engineering, Bodine High School for International Affairs, Constitution High School and Parkway to name a few. The neighborhood high school is Benjamin Franklin.

The mission of Spring Garden School is to cultivate the development of students into educated, self-confident, lifelong learners and responsible citizens who possess personal integrity and the ability to succeed in a global society. The principles, that guide our instructional program reflect our vision of sound, exemplary, educational practices.
