William M. Meredith School

Located in the historic Queen Village neighborhood, Meredith is surrounded by 19th-century houses alongside modern townhouses and is highly-regarded as a top-notch school.

At Meredith, the school staff strives to help every child achieve at the proficient or advanced level in all academic areas. Students are well-grounded in the core concepts of literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, computer science, health and physical education. Our expanded curriculum includes appreciation of and instruction in vocal and instrumental music, art, drama and dance. Leadership skills, development of a positive self image and problem solving skills are integrated across the curriculum.

Meredith graduates attend special admission high schools such as Masterman, Central, Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), Girard Academic Music Program (GAMP), Science Leadership Academy and Academy at Palumbo. The neighborhood high school is Furness.

Meredith has a computer lab with 30 new computers and air-conditioned classrooms equipped with Promethean Boards. Renovations and improvements have been made to the library, lunchroom and bathrooms.

School Community

The Meredith Home and School Association (HSA) consist of parents, guardians, teachers and administrators who volunteer their time to help Meredith students and are active in all aspects of the Meredith school community. Meredith HSA plans special events throughout the school year and works to enhance programs in the school. Parent and community involvement is key to Meredith’s successes.

The student body enjoys special curricular enhancements that include Broadway-style shows and holiday programs. Meredith has been recognized as a "Best Practice" school and has been recognized for academic success.

Community Partnerships

Meredith's partners in the community include the Queen Village Neighborhood Association, the Curtis Institute of Music, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Fleisher Art Memorial and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
